AIR HANDLING UNIT (AHU)

This is the part of the environmental control system where the heating and cooling takes place. Typically, these units are made up of a make-up air module, pre-filters, cooling and heating coil boxes and a fan. Fresh air and re-circulating air are ducted to this unit for conditioning prior to delivery to the cleanroom. SBB's AHU's are designed to be oriented in a variety of positions and can function in both horizontal and vertical airflow configurations. Directly above or adjacent to the area to be cooled is usually most economical. Most suitable for indoor applications. Cooling can be achieved with chilled water from a central location or from an air-cooled direct expansion condenser. Heating can be electric, gas or steam.

SPLIT-SYSTEM AIR-COOLED CONDENSING UNIT

These units are completely assembled, piped and wired at the factory to provide one-piece shipment and rigging. Each unit is pressurized with a holding charge of refrigerant for storage and/or shipping. The compact design, clean styling, low silhouette, and quiet operation make these condensing units suitable for almost any outdoor location. On rooftops-- because they weigh much less than a single package unit of similar capacity and are much easier to rig and support. At ground level-- because their ample sub-cooling capacity allows them to be located three or more stories below the evaporator coil. Compressors are mounted on spring isolators in an enclosed compartment to reduce the transmission of vibration and sound. Vertical discharge condenser fans direct sound upward and away from any surrounding structures.
